Cut in half, Smelled odd

I ordered 12 yards, tha may seem like a lot but I expected it to be in one pice as I was planning a large project involving creating shade eaves on my porch. It came cut in half. Maybe that’s in the fine print but it forced me to cha ge my plans and it also smelled strange. Started wondering if I received returned goods. I would not have ordered this fabric if I knew it would turn out like this.
