Our Thoughts: Jessica from Happy Together By Jess made some really cute nightgowns for her girls and we love them!
Last week I got this soft and cozy flannel fox fabric from Organic Cotton Plus. When I saw it I knew it had to be some sort of pajamas for the girls. I originally thought of doing just pants, then tried to do some sort of night gown version of Simplicity 1574, which turned into this. I still used that pattern for the basic pieces, but I heavily altered it as can tell.
I created a one piece front from the pattern and enlarged the neck line so their heads would be able to fit through. I used bias tape on the necklines and on the bottom of miss E’s night gown. I just serged miss J’s hemline to try a different way to finish it. Then for the sleeves I just rolled them up instead of under for a cuffed look.
When miss J first saw hers it didn’t have a bow and she said it just looked like a dress not a night gown. Little did she know I was going to add a dainty little bow that is characteristic of many nightgowns. It takes it to that level you know? The bottom hem also scoops up on the sides like some gowns do.
The fit was spot on and these girls have a new nightgown which was much needed.
